Small, midieval, and situated a top a little hill in central tuscany, Siena is one of my new favorite Places. Pictured here is the gorgeous main piazza and bell tower. The piazza is famous for its annual horse race that has been held for centuries. ( here for more info
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palio_di_Siena) The Piazza slopes gently inward, making it an optimal spot for lounging and enjoying some tuscan sun. Siena has an incredible duomo (this photo was taken from the baptistry roof) and if famous for Chianti wines and ham. I strongly recommend anyone looking for a smaller city off the beaten path to check out Siena, the quaint winding streets are amazing, the food to die for, and like everything in Italy, is steeped in centuries of rich culture.
